Keyword search

Enter a word or a string of words separated by commas in the keyword search field and click on ‘submit’. After you have finished with your search click ‘reset’.

By clicking the relevant boxes below the keyword search field you can limit the keyword search. For example, if you wish to find records in which ‘Cardew’ appears as part of the title then type ‘Cardew’ in the ‘Keyword search’ box and select ‘title’ in the ‘Search by’ box. If, however, you wish to find records of Cardew as an author then type ‘Cardew’ in the ‘Keyword search’ box and select ‘Author_Creator’ in the ‘Search by’ box. This will give you a different set of records.

Category search

You can further refine your search through the use of the Category drop down menu. For example, if you wish to find records of Cardew as an author of books (but not articles), then type ‘Cardew’ in the ‘Keyword search’ box, select ‘Author_Creator’ in the ‘Search by’ box and select ‘Book’ from the ‘Category’ drop down menu.

It is also possible to use the ‘Category’ search as a stand-alone option. For example, if you wish to find all the records of exhibition catalogues in the database then ignore the ‘Keyword search’ and ‘Search by’ boxes and select ‘Exhibition_catalogue’ from the ‘Category’ drop down menu and click on ‘submit’.

Always click on ‘reset’ when you have finished with one search and are ready to start another.

Some of the ‘Category’ options listed will not return any results at the present time. They have been included in order to indicate the anticipated coverage of the database as it accumulates more records.
